The cultivation of biological science literacy for middle school students dues to home-school communication.In the past,both family and school used to achieve this goal by the normal communication methods,such as the parent conference,telephone,and school training.With the rapid development of mobile communication technologies,WeChat,a simple and convenient instant messaging platform,has rapidly developed.It creates a new idea for the communication of home-school communication to cultivate the biological science literacy of middle school students.However,whether the fast-growing WeChat platform is good for this role remains to be further explored.In this paper,questionnaire method was selected to investigate the application of the WeChat platform as a communication tool between home and school.Questionnaire were answered by biological classroom teachers from Hebi senior school and Yuzhou senior school,Henan province,students from grade one to three in these two senior school and their parents.The student's biological science literacy status was surveyed at the same time.The survey results showed:(1)WeChat is a good extra-curricular extension channel for cultivating middle school students' biological science literacy.As far as teacher and parent are concerned,WeChat platform is the first choice for home-school communication,in particular for those biological teaching teachers with highly educated and rejuvenated background,because they can communicate parents at any time and environment by the WeChat platform.For the students,although the WeChat platform is not the main source to get biological knowledge,its supporting role can not be ignored.(2)WeChat is limited as a channel for home-school communication.The students participating in the survey grasped primary knowledge of biological sciences and had relatively objective scientific attitude.However,most of these biological knowledge they mastered were taught by teacher on the class platform.Because of severe student supervision,few of students have opportunities to use the WeChat platform as a study tool and conduct academic studies.However,more than half of the students believe that the WeChat platform is more conducive to get biological knowledge than other platforms.With the development of science and technology and the rise of the internet platform,students believe that they can master more the new world's biotechnology through WeChat platform.
