Chinese elective courses are complementary and deepening of Chinese compulsory courses.They are important carriers for broadening students' knowledge and improving students' language accomplishments.The opening of elective courses breaks the original monotonous tendency of curriculum setting and is the highlight of the new curriculum reform.However,at this stage,most middle schools in Tianshui area do not attach importance to the establishment of language elective courses,and there are many problems.In terms of curriculum development,students do not have the right to choose themselves.Elective courses are basically around the college entrance examination.In terms of curriculum teaching,the teaching of elective courses copies the teaching methods of compulsory courses and the teaching process is simple;in terms of course management,it is basically in an unordered state.There is also no effective curriculum evaluation system.The emergence of these problems is,in the final analysis,the lack of attention paid by the administrative departments of education and schools to elective courses,the lack of rational planning for elective courses,and the fact that they are also subject to restrictions on teachers,teaching facilities,and so on.To change this situation,we must fully understand the status and role of Chinese elective courses in the entire curriculum system,make reasonable plans for the elective courses as a whole,optimize the structure of the curriculum,rationally allocate curriculum resources,further change teaching concepts,and improve teaching methods..At the same time,it is necessary to strengthen teacher training and establish a scientific and effective evaluation system.In order to maximize the role of elective courses,and strive to improve students' sense of inquiry and innovation,and develop students' language skills.
