The Study On The Implementation Of Local Curriculum In South Xinjiang University

Policy Courses of Xinjiang History and Ethnic Religion Theory(hereinafter referred to as the Course),which is ideological and political theory courses with local characteristics in Xinjiang colleges,and that was developed by Education Department of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region based on the actual situation.As the Local courses in Xinjiang universities,which undertake the important educational mission about Xinjiang History,Marxist National Theory and the Party’s Ethnic Policy,Marxist Religious Theory and Party’s Religious Policy.In recent years,the "Three Forces" have not been slacking with eroding and tempting young college students.The A University in southern Xinjiang is at the forefront against the "Three Forces".The Course teaching is the important approach to help college students to establish a correct value of Xinjiang history and religion,and to oppose the "Three Forces" and realize the longterm peace and stability in Xinjiang society.This study is focused on the problems in the compilation and teaching of Course,and discussed the countermeasures to enhance the teaching effect of local curricula in Southern Xinjiang University,which is started from the investigation of the teaching status of Course in A University.The paper is divided into four parts as follows:The first part is introduction,which explains the origin of the research,research purposes and methods,and combing the domestic literature review.The second part is a course overview,which clarifies the origin of Course,the theoretical perspective of research and the value of curriculum.The third part is the current situation of implementation of Course of local curriculum in Southern Xinjiang University.I selected A University in Southern Xinjiang as the research object and summed up some successful practices in local implementation of Course of A University.The investigation and analysis were carried out from several aspects as follows: the present situation of opened curriculum of Course,content arrangement,status of classroom teaching and student assessment,such as adopting a strict attendance system for students in schools,learning political affairs in current curriculum and differentiating teaching of Min-Han students during the course,etc.The fourth part is the problems and countermeasures during the implementation of the Course in Southern Xinjiang universities.The implementation of local curricula in Southern Xinjiang universities had presented the following problems.Students are lacked of recognition of the concept of unity in diversity and ideas with local curriculums,being short of concerning for current politics affairs.The teaching method is monotonous which is expected to improve.Teaching materials possessed vague teaching goals and had little targeted introduction for ethnic groups and superficial analysis for the negative impact of religion.Schools are out of matching curriculum resources and short of corresponding school-based curricula.Six countermeasures are put forward to conduct local curricula effectively in universities in southern Xinjiang.One,local governments should strengthen the training of local curriculums and improve their professional qualities.Two,every teacher no matter Han nationality or not jointly give lectures to maximize the professional level of teachers.Three,Classroom participation need to be enhanced by adopting diversified teaching strategies.Four,improving the content of teaching materials and clearing the ideological barriers of students.Five,School-based curriculum should coordinate with local courses and bring the role of local courses into full play.Six,adopt scientific evaluation methods,pay attention to the cultivation of students’ inner quality.
