The Research On David Shambaugh’s Cognition Of Socialism With Chinese Characteristics

David Shambaugh is a famous expert on China issues in the United States and a foreign relations adviser to the United States government.He has been focusing on China issues for nearly 40 years and has studied socialism with Chinese characteristics systematically.Today,through Shambaugh’s research on the cognition of socialism with Chinese characteristics,we can have a glimpse of the current views of American scholars and think tanks on China.This paper starts with David Shambaugh’s observation of China’s problems over the years,and summarizes Shambaugh’s understanding of China’s economic,political,cultural,and social issues,and preliminaryly sorts out Shambaugh’s socialism with Chinese characteristics in political,economic,cultural,social,and ecological environments.The theoretical content and development trends of the five aspects reveal the characteristics of Shambaugh’s research on socialism with Chinese characteristics.In the research,the author finds that Shambaugh’s understanding of socialism with Chinese characteristics is full of mistakes.Some of these mistakes come from their limitations of understanding,some from the opposition of ideology,and some are the arrogance inherent in the understanding of Chinese issues by scholars in Europe and the United States.In this regard,this article has been criticized and clarified.This article also discusses Shambaugh’s enlightenment on the study of socialism with Chinese characteristics.David Shambaugh’s cognition of socialism with Chinese characteristics is a mixture of right and wrong.The correct cognition comes from Shambaugh’s many years of observation and research on China.He is Shambaugh’s personal experience of the practice of socialism with Chinese characteristics.These rational understandings derived from practice are in line with China’s objective reality.Part of the misunderstanding comes from Shambaugh’s understanding limitations,partly from the opposition of ideology,and partly from the arrogance inherent in Chinese and American scholars.Therefore,in dealing with Shambaugh’s research on socialism with Chinese characteristics,it is necessary to distinguish between right and wrong.First of all,we must rationally look at the research results of Shambaugh.Wemust not negate it in its entirety.We must not accept it in full.We must speak with facts.Second,we must clarify and criticize Shambaugh’s misunderstanding of socialism with Chinese characteristics.Only rational criticism can safeguard the society with Chinese characteristics.The correctness and superiority of the doctrine.The third is to critically absorb the opinions and suggestions put forward by Shambaugh,and learn from others to make socialism with Chinese characteristics more prosperous in the new era.
