Marx and Engels struggled for the proletariat to seize power and realize socialism all their lives. The issue of socialist transition is an important part of realizing its future social ideals, and it has also become an important part of exploring the conditions and nature of the proletarian movement. After Marx's death,Engels alone assumed the arduous task of theoretically guiding the international proletarian movement. The great changes of capitalism in the late 19 th century prompted Engels to carry out a predictable analysis of the problem of socialist transition in his later years, which left a valuable spiritual heritage for the world proletarian movement in the 20 th century.Based on the perspective of the history of Marxism, the thesis focuses on Engels. In his later years, thinking about the transition of socialism is mainly carried out from the following aspects. The first part traces and retraces Engels's old age background and problem consciousness about socialist transition issues. On the one hand, with the scientific socialism and the political economy as well as with the various wrong ideological trends of the debate as the focus of the grasp of research,so as to explore its impact on the transition problem. On the other hand,to explore the changes of Engels' socialist ideology in his later years from the changes of the capitalist era.The age is the mother of thought, and only by grasping the change of the age can we have a deep understanding of his thoughts on the socialist transition in his later years. The second part examines Engels' new thinking on the issue of socialist transition and the future development trend of capitalism in his later years. It was Engels' new changes in his environment in his later years that prompted him to rethink the means of socialism, that is,from emphasizing violent revolution to legal struggle, but never giving up violent means. It also pushed Engels to have new ideas about the future development trend of capitalism, which changed his previous view that capitalism was about to collapse, that it would continue to exist for some time, and that the time of proletarian international revolution had not yet come. This chapter conducts research from the perspective of development, aiming to grasp the ideological development track of Engels' socialist view. The third part explains some thoughts about the socialist transition in Engels' old age.Engels focused on the emancipation of the European proletarian movement and the proletarian political party's practical strategy, inspected the conditions for the realization of socialism in the Eastern countries represented by Russia, and analyzed capitalism by thinking about the fate of socialism in the United States and other European countries The relevant strategies for transition to socialism, through the grasp of the destiny of different countries, embodies Engels' s keen insight into the development trend of socialism in his later years. The fourth part summarizes the practical enlightenment of Engels in his later years on the issue of socialist transition. In his later years,Engels theoretically provided more in-depth guidance to the proletarian party on how to realize socialism. This part adheres to the methodological principles of Engels' thinking on the socialist transition in his later years, and makes a careful assessment of the new changing trends of contemporary capitalism, providing ideological guidance for the sinicization, epochs and popularization of socialism, and providing enlightenment for the liberation of the proletariat and its realization.
