A Study On The New Youth Intellectuals’ View Of Marxism

New Youth was the main position of the New Culture Movement in the early 20th century.It was also an important medium for the early translation,research and propaganda of Marxism by Chinese advanced intellectuals.It had important historical value.In the preliminary translation and interpretation of Marxist theory,the group of New Youth intellectuals represented by Chen Duxiu,Li Dazhao and others,took Marxism’s historical materialism,surplus value theory,class struggle and the successful experience of the Russian revolution brought Leninism into China.The attention of the intellectuals to Marxism seemed to be their individual subjective interest,but in fact,the complex domestic and international environment at that time and all the scientific,true and revolutionary nature of Marxism itself made it a historical necessity for intellectuals to choose Marxism.At the same time,under the influence of objective factors,such as the turbulent background and the urgent demand of saving the country,the interpretation and application of Marxism by the New Youth intellectuals were bound to be limited.Through the analysis of the evolution and limitations of the early Marxist view of the New Youth intellectuals,this paper hopes to enlighten and play a reference role in how to strengthen the leading position of Marxism in the new era,maintain its advanced nature and the contemporary character,and promote the combination of Marxism and Chinese traditional culture and other aspects.
