A Critical Study Of "Chinese Capitalism"

After the reform and opening up.China has gradually established a socialist market economy system,which has made tremendous achievements in development and caused many disputes.Many western scholars believe that the success of the"Chinese model" is attributed to the "capitalist model",which they call "national capitalism" or "China's capitalist program".The fundamental reason for the Western misjudgement is that there are obvious limitations in methodology.It makes an arbitrary judgment on the mode of national development and holds that the road of social development is "non-social investment".This study adopts the strategy of "refute it with its own way",trying to introduce the functional paradigm of Western sociology,combining with previous studies,to make a new response to the old problems.Sociological theory of "functionalism" emphasizes that the mode of social operation is actually a"function-oriented development model".Based on Marx's texts and scholars' research on the concept of "capitalism",and with the help of this"function-oriented" methodology,this study holds that although the capitalist system has many forms of development,the essential functions and purposes of various modes are the same,that is,to meet the needs of value proliferation to the greatest extent.For the purpose of social development,"capitalism" is a kind of development mode with value proliferation as one-dimensional function orientation.In contrast,the development goal of the socialist system with Chinese characteristics is to"emancipate and develop productive forces".Eliminate exploitation,eliminate polarization and ultimately achieve common prosperity.This requires that China's development model must be a holistic function-oriented development model that integrates economic development with people's rights and interests.From the methodological point of view,the socialist system with Chinese characteristics and the capitalist system may have similarities,but their respective functions and development purposes are quite different.They must not be confused,let alone regarded as the development mode of capitalism.
