Intervention In Social Avoidance Of Disabled And Orphaned Youths In Welfare Homes With Photovoice

The youth who living in social welfare homes have various disabilities such as physical disability/speech disability or multiple disabilities include intellectual disability.Compared to others who also live in social welfare homes,such as handicapped children and elders,disabled youth receive less attention and are relatively neglected groups in welfare services.Due to the defects and differences in cognition and expression,it is difficult for the handicapped youth in the welfare to interact and communicate with each other.There are often social avoidance problems,which is not conducive to their establishment of a good social network and social support system,which affects the satisfaction and happiness of their lives in welfare.Traditional intervention methods for social avoidance problems,such as group counseling and cognitive behavioral therapy,on the one hand,have certain requirements on the ability of the client to express and understand,and can not apply to the handicapped youth in welfare;on the one hand,these methods pay more attention to the individual's problems that lead to social interaction problems,and lack of intervention on the environmental causes of social problems.In view of this,this paper uses the method of photovoice to intervene in the social avoidance problem of the lonely and disabled youth in welfare.On the one hand,it explores the effectiveness of the method to interfere with the social avoidance problem,and on the other hand,analyzing the mechanism of the method in the intervention to provide practical insights for the intervention of the method.This paper conducts a case study on the social avoidance problem of a lonely and disabled youth in welfare.In the intervention method,the photovoice is adopted;in the form of intervention,the form of group activities is adopted;the content of intervention is from the social consciousness and social behavior of the study subject to the living environment in welfare.In the aspect of intervention evaluation,the target behavior observation record method is mainly used to measure the social avoidance problem of the case,and the intervention result is analyzed by comparing the data before and after interventiont.The results show that:(1)the living environment of the disabled youth inwelfare is narrow and limited,which limits the development of their social networks;(2)the existing welfare services for the disabled youth are to meet their survivability needs,their social interaction and self-achieving and other developmental needs are difficult to meet;(3)the environment of the welfare is the main reason for their social avoidance;(4)the intervention method of photovoice helps to alleviate the social isolation problems of young people in welfare and enhance their social behavior.
