The role of desk officer in detention center refers to the position that incumbent bears responsibilities for the following duties: Be responsible for the general administration of detention center;Provide advice and necessary assistance to the director of detention center.The position imposes tremendous influence on the effective functioning of a detention center.However,with the changing situation,the role of desk officer is faced with serious challenges such as management system,operation mechanism,team building,etc.This essay aims to make a deep research on the role of desk officer in detention center by carrying out investigation and making comprehensive analysis of the challenges of current situation of the post through case study of a selected detention center,in terms of the substantial work of desk officer,a number of countermeasures are to be set up with regard to optimization of organizational structure,clear job description,development of Information and Communications Technology,standardization of field management,establishment of “micro-training” mode.
