Abstract/Summary:
Malaysia is a great emigration country. After 1970 s,Malaysia’s economy shifted from import substitution to export-oriented economy, and the economic mode shifted from commodity economy to manufacturing industry.Malaysia’s economy has been developing rapidly, and the problem of labor shortage is becoming more and more serious. The government of Malaysia advocated introducing foreign labor.Under this background,a large number of foreign labor poured into Malaysia.Foreign labor played an irreplaceable role in promoting Malaysia’s economic development. While ensuring the labor demand in the period of economic transformation in Malaysia, the massive entry of foreign labor has also triggered a series of social problems. In particular, the existence of illegal foreign labor has become a key problem that continues to beset Malaysia.Under such circumstances, the government of Malaysia is constantly promoting the reform of immigration policy, improving the quality of immigration policy and increasing the control of immigration.Preliminary results have been achieved.Meanwhile,Malaysia’s immigration policy is still lacking continuity and consistency. The implementation is very difficult, and the head tax problem of foreign labor is outstanding. And in the process of seeking immigration policy reform in Malaysia, there is much room for exploration and coordination between foreign countries and national organizations.Based on the current situation of immigration and immigr ation policies in Malaysia, this paper analyzes the effectiveness and problems of Malaysia’s immigration policy. And from the four aspects of politics, economy, society and diplomacy,it sums up the reasons that affect the change of Malaysia’s immigration policy. Finally, the trend of migration policy in Malaysia is summarized. And put forward my own view on the formulation and reform of Malaysia’s immigration policy.
