Study On The Development Of Community Day Care Center

In China,bringing up children for old age and respecting the elderly are traditional ideas which have been deeply rooted in the heart of every Chinese since ancient times.Therefore,elderly-care is an essential responsibility for every Chinese family,and the old are more willing to accept care in their own home.Owing to the influence of "one-child policy,urbanization,population movements and aging tendency,the structure of family is more and more prominent and smaller,which are undermining the traditional family-care system in China.As a result,the family connection is reducing and the function of family care is graduafly weakening.Nevertheless,the need of being taken care haven't reduced yet to elderly people.In the face of this realistic contradiction,more and more attention has been paid to the establishment of social support system for the elderly living in home.As an important home-based care service system,in fact,day care center is bound to assume more and more responsibilities in China,for the extent of aging deepening overtime.Base on the theory of community care and the theory of human's demand,it takes the Huli District of Xiamen as an example.Through the methods of questionnaire survey and in-depth interview,this study aims to understand the demand and will for day care service of the elderly people over 65 years old in community.What's more,it will study further about the demands and will with four factors--demographic characteristics,financial situation,living situation and health condition.According to the survey,we make two conclusions.On one hand,elder people who are older,they need more life care,vehicle delivery,oral nursing and health care.On the other,elderly people generally welcome the day care center that provides full range of care services,especially for those who have lower income,live alone or are with chronic illness.Through literature analysis,this paper also studies the development of the outstanding day care center in Hong Kong,Japan and England,summing up their experience in the organization,service items,staff arrangement and other aspects.It shows that the project of developing a day care center must consider the serice demands of the old,and through the marketization and standardization of the management mode,to provide more proper and effective service for the elderly who need day care indeed.Based on the in-depth study of the demand and will of day care services for the elderly,and the excellent experience of day care centers at home and abroad,there are three directions about the future development of day care center in community of Hull District.Firstly,it is about day care center.To orient to the customer's demand,day care center ought to provide personalized service according to the different service demand of the elderly,and the transportation service is very important.Secondly,it is about the community.It should make full use of the resources in the community,reducing the difficulties of pushing day-care project and make sure the practice of day care center.Lastly,it is about government.To ensure that the government is dominant in the system of social services for the elderly,and keep increasing the policy and financial support.
