Since twenty-first Century, the Sino-Indian relations have developed well. However, the outbreak of "the row of tents" in 2013 exposed that the Sino-Indian border dispute has some negative effect on the healthy development of Sino-Indian relations.Whether in the 1962 Sino-Indian border war or the row of tents, public opinion played an important role in both of them.Although the "the row of tents" has been settled long ago,it is certain that no matter how the Sino-Indian relations, especially the border issues, have evolved, the influence of public opinion can’t be underestimated."The row of tents" is the most serious confrontation between the two countries in the past 30 years before it happens. It is also the beginning of the ongoing border confrontation in recent years. The systematic analysis of this event’s public opinion is not only a summary of the past, but also provide references for public diplomacy in the future..This paper mainly uses the method of comparative analysis, and takes the leading newspapers"the United States’”New York Times",the Britain’s”The Times",India’s " The Times of India" and the China’s " Reference News" as an example to detailed analyze the report about the incident from April 15th,2013 to May 22nd,2013.This paper is divided into three chapters. The first chapter is about the background, the occurrence and the consequences of the incident, and explores the cause of the standoff in detail. The second chapter carries on the quantitative analysis and the qualitative analysis to the sample.Quantitative analysis is mainly from four aspects:the number of reports, the length of reports, the source of reports, and the tendency of reporting.Qualitative analysis is mainly through the analyses of articles, paragraphs, sentences and words. Also,it will analyze the four newspapers comparatively and dig out the reasons. The third part analyzes the reasons for the media hype of the Ladakh crisis by India and reveals that the public opinions influence the settlement of the Sino-Indian border dispute. Finally, the author puts forward some counter-measures of this kinds of standoff in the future.
