Li Da&Formation?Development And Popularization Of Mao Zedong's Philosophy

Li Da and Mao Zedong had profound influences in the history of Chinese Marxist philosophy.Because of both believing in Marxism,they established deep friendship.Li Da and Mao Zedong had a very close relationship on philosophy and it last more than forty years,including three stages:they knew each other during the early period of the CPC building;they communicated through books during the new democratic revolution period;they contacted closely after the founding of new China.This relationship played deep effects upon them,and greatly promoted the sinicization and popularization of Marxist philosophy.In this relationship,Li Da made deep influences to the formation and development of Mao Zedong's philosophy.First,Li Da's early philosophical activities promoted Mao Zedong to become a Marxist;Second,Li Da translated and wrote many philosophy books,especially the Dialectic Materialism Tutorial,Outline of Sociology and Basic Theory of Marxist Economics,that provided theoretical resources to Mao Zedong;Third,after the founding of new China,the intimate philosophical contacts between Li Da and Mao Zedong provided important inspirations to the development of Mao Zedong's philosophy.In the early years of new China,Li Da worked a lot for popularization of Mao Zedong's philosophy.Firstly,Li Da devoted himself to the commentary of Mao Zedong's philosophy energetically,and finished Commentary of Practical Theory and Commentary of Contradiction,which greatly complemented and developed Mao Zedong Thought and provided useful references for popularization of Marxist philosophy;Secondly,Li Da took systemic explanations of Mao Zedong's philosophy,especially Mao's contributions to materialist dialectics and epistemology,in his book Materialist Dialectics;Lastly,Li Da was engaged in the research and education of Mao Zedong's philosophy in universities,and wrote many essays to tell the study methods about Mao Zedong's philosophy,which promoted effectively the popularization of Mao Zedong's philosophy.
