A Study On The Voluntary Failure And The Copping Strategies In Universities

This thesis mainly employs the methods of literature study,semi-structured interview,text encoding and case analysis to comprehensively explore the cause,status and coping strategies of "voluntary failure" based on"Aishang weigongyi" voluntary group in the Northwest Normal University.In the introduction part,the author presents the review of related literatures and summary the main points and developments in the field of voluntary failure.Research methods,key points,difficulties and possible innovations are also introduced in this part.The first chapter introduces the origin,meaning and manifestation of voluntary failure as a theory,and then analyzes the harm of voluntary failure based on realistic political and social conditions in mainland China.The second chapter is the core section of this thesis.It sorts out the manifestations and causes of voluntary failure in the voluntary organizations in China's universities by the following steps.First,it introduces the details of the subject,including the history and contemporary situations of "Aishang weigongyi" voluntary group;second,based on the framework of voluntary failure proposed by Salamon,four paragraphs are used to elaborate the contextual dilemma of philanthropic insufficiency,philanthropic particularism,philanthropic paternalism and philanthropic amateurism;finally,the causes of these dilemmas are summarized from the three angles of external intervention of anomie,improper management system and unbalanced external environment.The close cooperation between government and nonprofit organizations in the USA greatly solves the problems of resource scarcity and quality supervision,and the development of native philanthropy with the community services realize the fine-grained decision-making and the object selection by empowerment.In the Hongkong area,the government explicitly defines its social welfare function,supporting and promoting the cooperation with the third sector.So as to standardize the funding and supervision,it refines the content of voluntary service and makes the orientation of voluntary actions clear.The fifth chapter summaries the arguments from the content above,and refines the countermeasures to deal with the problem of "voluntary failure" in universities.From the perspective of government,administrative departments in university and other public departments,the author raises the suggestions to guarantee the resources for public charities and to help these organizations to make decisions effectively;from the voluntary organizations themselves,these organizations should use the internet platforms combined with mobile terminals to better chose the right objects and enhance their professional skills from the public resources and social support.Finally,the author makes a summary of the methods and points of views based on the full thesis.
