Conservatism,as one of the three main ideologies that affect the world together with socialism and liberalism, provides people with rich value orientation and ideological nourishment, and has influenced generations of politicians.Edmund Burke was a pioneer of modern conservatism. His thoughts came from the turbulent rise of the European and American revolutions in the eighteenth century and the enlightenment of western world. The main features of his thoughts are the emphasis on traditional values, opposition to rationalism, emphasizing order and authoritative rule, attaching importance to the role of religion and morality, and respecting the orderly freedom under the order.Conservative thinkers of several generations have found abundant philosophical and practical wisdom in his life experiences and works.Almost all principles of political conservatism can be found in his writings. Also, the Conservatism influences other mainstream ideological like liberalism and they develops together. The mutual integration of the two forms the mainstream thinking of the contemporary Western ideological circles. This article starts with Burke as a politician under the turbulent century, analyzes the background of the era in which Burke is located, and uses Burke's observations of changing times as clues to sort out Burke's overall conservatism. It also refined the attitude held by Burke to the reform, and focused on analyzing the long-term line of Burke's reform attitude with a focus on tradition, emphasizing experience, and a "prudence"attitude, and finally returned to China's modernization construction in order to absorb the essence of previous wisdom. For the future development of our country to provide a reference.
