National identity is an important factor in maintaining social stability and it is an important part of political integration.China is a complex and extensive multiethnic state,so the country’s ruling philosophy and institutional arrangements usually transmitted to all parts of the country through the mass media. So,different regions mean different contexts,in which the public will have different idea on the construction of national imagination after the reception of information. The national imagination as the primary stage of national identity,in the aspect of its construction the grassroots people act as a mirror, may be lack of systematic,or even lack of rationality, but can reflect the trend of the national policy whether is reasonable. To a certain extent,it also reflects the aspirations of the people. Therefore, paying attention to different areas and all levels of society has underestimated importance on cognitively of country, and the ethnic minorities which away from the city and live in remote mountainous areas are more representative. In the period of social transformation in China, many villages located in remote areas are affected by modernization progress. On one hand they get the convenience of the culture of science and technology, accept the implantation of modern communication tools;on the other hand they can not completely control the modern communication tools because of price difference with city to keep up with the pace of society. This paper takes an example of the alpine region of Yunnan village-Wuqi Village to carry out fieldwork through the methods of participant observation and interview, combining with the theory of narrative to explain. This paper tries to explore the specific behavior of the villagers in Wu QI who use the media tools to construct the national imagination through participatory observation and in-depth interviews. And it discusses the influence on cognizing our country by television, the most common media tool used by villagers in the villages; The new media, represented by mobile phones, has become increasingly popular in the villages, but it has little to do with the villagers’ impact on the construction of national imagination; At the same time,we will observe other factors that influence the construction of the national imagination by the villagers, such as the government’s institutional arrangements, policies and so on.Based on this,we analyze the similarities、differences and contradictions between the ways of connecting minority villagers with the "state" in the border areas of china. In the background of the increasing popularity of the network media, and it discusses on the the present situation of villagers viewing behavior," watching the nation" "listening to the nation" and " imagining the nation ".
