Research On The Influence Of Social Support On The Health Of The Elderly

The health of elderlynot only evaluate the elderly quality of life,but also is an important indicator of reflecting Chinese medical and healthy services and old-age security.Healthy aging is conducive to the implementation ofthehealthy China.Using longitudinal data from 2002 to 2014(CLHLS),combining the literatural research and the multiple linear model,the paper futher study the correlation between social support and healthy conditions of the elderly.Social support is divided into three types:economic support,daily care and spiritual support.The elderly health includesthree dimensions:physical function,mental state and theself-rated health.The main research results as follows:(1)Sufficient source of income has positive effect onphysical function,mental state and theself-rated health of elderly.The elderly whose income comes from pension and work are low loneliness and good self-rated health.Financial support from children has a positive impact on mental state and theself-rated health of elderly.Providing economic support for the children can reduce loneliness of the elderly.(2)When physic is uncomfortable,the elderly can be looked after and when having difficulties,someone can help can reduce the psychological loneliness;engaged in housework can reduce psychological loneliness of young elderly between 65 and 74.(3)Someone who can chat and talkcan significantly reduce loneliness of the elderly and improve the level of self-health.The loneliness of solitary elderlyand rural elderly is stronger;the physic function of young old man are better,there was no significant differences between loneliness and self-reported health and age;the elderly who exercised is better in self-reported health;the older man who timely get medical treatment can improve the physical function;Medical expenses mainly composed of medical insurance payment can reduce the elderly loneliness.Therefore,in order to improve the level of the elderly health,we should improve the elderly income,enhance the old economic support;diversify care subject of the elderly health;attach a great importance to the mental care for the elderly;normalize health promotion and health promotion activities;strengthen health security and pay attention to risk groups.
