College English teaching is important for students'all-round development.However,college English teaching in China is seriously criticized due to its inefficiency and ineffectiveness.The study aims to find a practical way to cultivate students'English multi-literacy exploring the design learning mode with the Internet~+.Three questions are answered in this research:1)Compared with the traditional teaching method,is the design learning practicable to cultivate college students'English multi-literacy?2)How can we apply Internet~+to cultivating college students'English multi-literacy?3)What are the students'attitudes towards the design learning to cultivate their English multi-literacy applying Internet~+?To answer the above questions,an experiment is conducted from September 2019and ends in December 2019,lasting for 13 weeks.The subjects are non-English major freshman undergraduates studying General English Module B in a university in Guangdong.The control class adopts the traditional teacher-dominated mode,including new class introduction,explanation of knowledge and practice after class.The experimental class applies the design learning mode with Internet~+to practice students'multi-literacy.A pre-test both in the experimental class and the control class was conducted to make sure that the students in the two classes were at the same level.And a questionnaire was designed to survey the current situation of the students'multi-literacy ability and their application of the Internet~+.During the experiment,a college English design learning mode is conducted including three stages:pre-class preparation stage of task assignment on i Learning(the APP“Fudan i Learning”),the presentation and discussion stage in class with the aid of Rain Classroom and redesigning stage after class on Pigai website to compose a writing.At the end of the experiment,students from the experimental class and the control class had to attend a post-test to make a comparison with the pre-test and testify the effectiveness of the experiment.After the experiment the researcher interviewed the students in the experimental class to know their attitudes towards the teaching pedagogy.Pre-test and post-test results were analyzed by independent sample t-test and paired sample t-test with the help of SPSS 22.0 to ensure the authenticity and validity of the experiment.It shows that the teaching mode of cultivating college students'English multi-literacy applying Internet~+is more effective than the traditional one.The students in the experimental class perform better than the students in the control class after the experiment.And the students show a positive attitude to the cultivation of college students'English multi-literacy applying Internet~+and hope to continue to adopt this teaching method in the next semester.The mode of Learning by design is practicable to cultivate college students'English multi-literacy.Students can improve their multi-literacy ability by completing the assignments in the design learning mode due to its student-centered teaching.
