Since the 1970 s,the academic circle has gradually attached importance to the principal role of students in learning.In the field of second language acquisition research,more and more scholars have realized the influence of learner's individual factors on second language acquisition,among which some researchers have found that anxiety is one of the important emotional factors affecting learners' learning effectiveness.On the other hand,with the improvement of China's international status and economic development,the number of international students learning Chinese is increasing.As a consequence,the anxiety of students in the process of Learning Chinese is frequently observed.To have a deeper understanding of the anxiety in international students' online spoken Chinese classes,this study starts with the theory of Krashen's “affective filter hypothesis” and Tobias' “three stage model” and selects international students at the primary stage of Zhejiang University of Science and Technology as the research subject.By employing questionnaire and classroom observation,this thesis discusses the manifestations and causes of anxiety in online spoken Chinese classes of international students at the primary stage,and specifically analyzes the influence of individual factors on the differences in the level of anxiety of international students,as well as the handling ways of them in the face of anxiety in online spoken Chinese classes.The results of this study show that anxiety is a common phenomenon in the online spoken Chinese classes of the students at the primary stage,and the individual factors of them greatly affect their anxiety level.Being faced with anxiety in online spoken Chinese class,most international students tend to adopt positive and mature handling ways to reduce their anxiety.Based on the above research results,the author suggests that international students are supposed to set feasible learning goals and use correct learning methods to reduce their anxiety.Teachers are suggested to stress the differences among students,to create a relaxing online class atmosphere and with the aim of relieving the anxiety of students.To sum up,this thesis analyzes the manifestations,causes and solutions of students' anxiety in online spoken Chinese classes through case study,so as to provide some suggestions for students' learning anxiety in international Chinese teaching and thus promote the development of Chinese teaching.
