The paper uses text analysis,semiotics and other methods to study the posters in the French May 1968 storm movement.Firstly,this paper analyzes the visual text in the may68 poster.The visual elements of the poster are discussed through text analysis,and the ideology behind the image representation and the protest theme are revealed by combining other theoretical frameworks.Secondly,based on the media materiality,analyzes the poster form,production style and viewing context,,and finds out the influence of printmaking technology on the dissemination of posters in the specific context at that time,as well as the collectivism practice style of posters and the significance of posters in the space of "wall".And through the discussion of rhetoric structure,this paper analyzes the metaphor and metonymy mechanism in the poster,and explores the condensing mechanism of the symbol in the image by means of the "detournement" method proposed by Debord.Provides a perspective on the may storm poster in the present.Then,through the previous analysis,the author puts forward the rhetoric framework of "protest by memory".Finally,By referring to the classification of visual rhetoric proposed by Seliger,this paper classifies and analyzes the visual rhetoric strategies of protest posters,so as to find out how the posters achieve the purpose of persuasion through visual rhetoric.
