The connective words in modern Chinese are the words used to connectclauses and indicate the relations between clauses in complex sentences.Thecorrect use of connective words can help international students to learn complexsentences and express in paragraphs better,which plays an important role inimproving the overall language expression ability of international students.This article mainly adopts the qualitative and quantitative research,erroranalysis,comparative analysis and other research methods.We interviewed 100 foreign students from 29 different countries,transcribed the interviewrecordings into spoken Chinese interlanguage research corpus and established asmall corpus of spoken Chinese interlanguage.Then further research on the useof connective words in spoken Chinese of advanced international students hasbeen carried out.The research content can be roughly divided into four aspects:First,statistics and analysis of the obtained data were carried out with the helpof Hy Conc V3.9.8,Excel and other software,so as to understand the overall use ofconnective words in spoken Chinese of advanced international students;Second,we listed the typical errors of different semantic relation types of internationalstudents and analyzed the causes of the errors;Third,considering the possibleinfluence of stylistic factors on the use of connective words,we collected acertain amount of written interlanguage corpus in HSK Dynamic CompositionCorpus,and made a comparative study on the performance of the use of theconnective words in both spoken and written languages of internationalstudents;Fourth,to test the development level of the spoken interlanguage ofthe foreign students surveyed,a certain amount of spoken language corpus ofThe findings are as follows: 1.International students with advanced level tendto use the connective words which represent the causal relationship,thecontinuation relationship and the transition relationship more frequently inspoken Chinese,and the connective words which represent the explanationrelationship,the concession relationship and the purpose relationship are usedless frequently;2.There is no obvious correspondence between the usage rateand the error rate of connective words with different semantic relations;3."然后","因为","所以" and "但是" are the most frequently used connective words byadvanced international students in oral communication."而且","虽然","如果……就 ","不管……都(也、还)" are connective words with the high usage and the higherror rate.4.There are mainly two types of errors in advanced Internationalstudents’ use of connective words in spoken Chinese: the errors of addition andthe the errors of substitution.5.The types of semantic relations and collocationforms of connective words used by international students in written languageare more abundant than those in spoken language,and the frequency ofhigh-level connective words is higher.But the overall frequency of connectivewords in written language is not necessarily higher than that in spoken language;6.Although there is a certain gap in the use of connective words betweenadvanced international students and native speakers,the interlanguage formshave been moving closer to the target language forms.Finally,based on the previous survey results,combined with the cognitiveteaching method,situational teaching method,communicative teaching method,chunk teaching method and other teaching theories,we give some teachingsuggestions in view of the problems existing in the use of connective words inthe oral expression of international students.
