Body image refers to a person's view of their own body. For the past few years, body image has attracted much attention from scholars. It is found that body image is a common problem among college students, and dissatisfaction with the body seriously affects the healthy development of individuals. Therefore, this study investigates the body image of college students and analyzes the relationship among body image, psychological resilience and self-acceptance.Study 1 explored the body image of college students from two aspects: implicit and explicit. On the implicit aspect, the implicit association test paradigm was used to examine the body image of subjects on the subconscious level.A total of 76 college students participated in the experiment, including 36 boys and 40 girls. The results showed that the average response of the compatible part was significantly lower than that of the incompatible part, and there was no gender difference in the implicit body image of boys and girls. At the explicit level, questionnaire survey was used to investigate the explicit body image of the subjects.A total of 450 college students took part in the survey, including 208 boys and 242 girls. The results showed that explicit body image had significant gender differences in the dimensions of appearance concern, obesity concern and self-perceived weight, and the score of boys was significantly lower than that of girls.Study 2 added explicit self-acceptance and psychological resilience on the basis of research one,and measured the explicit self-acceptance and psychological resilience of college students through a questionnaire survey.Meanwhile, the relationship among body image,self-acceptance and psychological resilience on the explicit level was discussed.Using the multidimensional body-self relations questionnaire, the self-acceptance questionnaire, and the adult resilience scale as measurement tools,450 college students from Northwest Normal University were surveyed. The results revealed that explicit self-acceptance had significant gender differences in self-evaluation factors, and the scores of girls were significantly lower than that of boys. Moreover, explicit self-acceptance also had significant differences in the place of birth.Urban college students scored significantly higher than rural college students. In terms of psychological resilience, the subjects also had differences in different dimensions: boys scored significantly higher than girls in thedimensions of self-perception and work style, while girls scored significantly higher than boys in the dimensions of family cohesion and social resources. At the same time, there were significant differences between the students in grades and places of origin. The performance was as follows: the scores of psychological resilience of students in grade 1 and 2 were significantly higher than that of students in grade 3 and 4;the score of psychological resilience of urban college students was higher than that of rural college students. In terms of explicit body image, there was a significant difference between different majors and grades: the scores of liberal arts students were significantly higher than those of science students in the dimensions of total body image, appearance evaluation and physical fitness evaluation. The scores of first and second grade students were significantly higher than those of third and fourth grade students in terms of total body image and physical attention. The results of correlation analysis showed that there were pairwise correlations among explicit body image and explicit self-acceptance and psychological resilience, and explicit body image played a mediating role between psychological resilience and explicit self-acceptance.Study 3 explored the relationship between body image and self-acceptance from an implicit level.Firstly, the implicit self-acceptance of college students was measured using the same experimental paradigm as experiment 1.A total of 66 college students participated in the experiment, including 31 boys and 35 girls. The results showed that college students has an implicit self-acceptance effect.Secondly, study 3 also analyzed the relationship between implicit body image and implicit self-acceptance.The results found that,at the implicit level, body image has no predictive effect on self-acceptance.In summary, this study draws the following conclusions:(1)College students not only have explicit body image, but also have implicit body image.(2)Explicit body image has significant differences between different genders, grades, and majors.Girls are more concerned about their appearance and weight than boys;lower grades pay more attention to their body image and physical ability than upper grades;liberal arts students have a higher evaluation of their appearance and physical fitness than science students.(3)Explicit self-acceptance has significant differences in gender and birthplace.Boys have a more positive self-evaluation than girls;urban college students have better self-acceptance than rural college students.(4)There are also significant differences in the psychological resilience of college students in gender, grade and birthplace.Boys are better than girls in self-perception and work style, and girls are better than boys in family cohesion and social resources. The psychological resilience of junior students is better than that of senior students;the psychological resilience of urban college students is better than that of rural college students.(5)There is a significant positive correlation among explicit body image, psychological resilience and explicit self-acceptance.Moreover,explicit body image plays a mediating role between psychological resilience and explicit self-acceptance,that is,at the explicit level, psychological resilience can directly influence self-acceptance and indirectly influence self-acceptance through body image.(6)College students have an implicit self-acceptance effect, and at the implicit level,self-acceptance is not affected by body image.
