Mothers Understand The Relationship Between Social Support And Feeding Patterns

Feeding method is a specific way of feeding related to infant feeding,which is a relatively fixed behavior style,and it can be divided into two dimensions of request and response.Among them,the requests refer to the control,maturity requirements and degree of supervision for the child’s diet,and the requests are centered on the caregiver during the feeding process,in addition,the response refers to how parents respond to their child’s needs and how they cultivate their child’s sense of autonomy.The feeding methods are related to the physical and mental health of infants,as the main caregiver of infant feeding,mother’s own cognition,emotion,attitude and behavior are directly related to the choice of feeding methods.Domestic and foreign research on feeding methods mainly focuses on specific feeding behaviors,however,there is still a lack of analysis about the relevant variables of feeding methods and the potential relationship between different dimensions.Therefore,this paper attempts to explore the factors that affect the mother’s requests and responses of feeding style,according to parenting determinant model of Belsky and ecosystem theory of Bronfenbrenner,this paper explore the relationship between mothers’ perception of social support,self-efficacy,and requests and responses of feeding style.In addition,the survey method used in this paper was the way of questionnaire survey,and 316 mothers of infants aged 0-6 from Xi’an city and Weinan city in Shaanxi Province were selected as the survey objects.Besides,conducting a model analysis about the relationship between comprehending social support,self-efficacy,and requests and responses of feeding style.And making a comparison analysis of the model based on the child’s gender.In the analysis of the current situation,gender differences were tested on the mother’s comprehension of social support,self-efficacy,and feeding style requests and responses.From the test results,it is found that there is no significant difference in gender between mothers’ comprehension of social support,self-efficacy and feeding style requests and responses.On this basis,conducting a model analysis about the mediating role of the mother’s self-efficacy in comprehending social support and requests and responses of feeding style,besides,making a model comparison based on the gender of the child,and fromthe analysis results,it is found that in the boy model,comprehending social support can positively predict the response directly,but it has no significant effect on forecasting requests.The sense of self-efficacy can positively predict requests and responses.So the sense of self-efficacy plays an intermediary role in comprehending social support and response.In the model of girl,comprehending social support cannot significantly predict responses and requests,nor can the sense of self-efficacy significantly predict responses and requests.So the sense of self-efficacy does not play an intermediary role between comprehending social support and requests and responses.In summary,there are significant differences between males and females in the model results,therefore,we can find that gender played a regulatory role.Through a model analysis of the relationship among comprehending social support,sense of self-efficacy,and requests and responses of feeding style,and made a model comparison analysis that based on the child’s gender.This paper provides a brand new perspective for the research on feeding methods in China,and validates Belsky’s parenting determinant model and Bronfenbrenner’s ecosystem theory,in addition,this research incorporates gender comparison throughout the paper.All in all,this research has theoretical and practical significance for promoting the research of feeding styles and understanding the influence of children’s gender on feeding styles.
