A Study On Chen Yu And His Poetry

Chen Yu,as a lesser-known poet during the middle period of Tang Dynasty,had been in contact with Han Yu,Dai Shulun and other important poets.Just like other poets of his time,Chen Yu felt the unrest atmosphere of the times,and his disconsolate and perplexed psychology was also reflected in his poems.From the perspective of the overall tendency of poetry creation,it also accords with the aesthetic interest in the Dali Period,presenting the characteristic and distinguished style in the Dali period.However,the sensitive and delicate psychology of Chen Yu as well as years of experience of the failure in the imperial examination had also caused Chen Yu to be more anxious than ordinary people,which created his unique artistic style and features and enriched the picture scroll of poetry in the middle period of Tang Dynasty.However,there are only a few documents and data recording related to poets and also not many poems left.In this paper,based on collecting and sorting out relevant literatures,Chen Yu and his poems are analyzed comprehensively and systematically from three chapters connecting with the specific background of the middle Tang Dynasty.The introduction of this paper mainly introduces the reasons for choosing the project,research value and previous research results.The first chapter introduces all Chen Yu’s life and social background.Firstly,through sorting out the collected materials,the year of birth and death of Chen Yu,his tracks and friends and other information are verified.Secondly,the social background of Chen Yu is introduced from the political,economic,cultural and other aspects,and the influence of the social background on literary creation is explained.The second chapter makes taxonomic study on Chen Yu’s poems through poetry contents,whose poems are divided into five types: the type of rewarding and parting,the type of travelling and homesickness,the type of history nostalgia,the type of seclusion for mountains and forests,and the type of simulating ancients.The third chapter discusses the poetic art of Chen Yu.The poetic art is mainly studied from the perspectives of the unique style of poetry,rich images,proficient in depicting,preference for modern style and succinct language.
