Study On Some Problems About Marriage,Family Of Women According To Qin Bamboo Slips

Qin Bamboo Slips reflects Qin Dynasty in the middle and late Warring States Period,which is a transitory stage and at this time,both female family status as well as economic status have experienced an obvious decline.During this period,achievements of women is limited because of the limited historical materials.With the appearance of historical materials such as the Yuelu Academy Collection of Qin Slips etc,the above new materials can be employed for further research of problems of female marriage,family and the related ones,alleviating the current situation of many related studies towards "the Qin Dynasty to Han Dynasty” as well as deepening the understanding of female issues during this period.The first chapter of this paper discusses the marriage problems of the women described in Qin Bamboo Slips.Through analyzing the Rishu Written on the Qin Dynasty Bamboo Slips,we can find that there is characteristics of “utility preference” when Qin people selecting their mates.In addition,the forecast of Rishu also describes the choice of marriage date and marriage status after being married of Qin people when they get married in details.Among them,when the marriage date is supposed to be a lucky day and the lucky day of marrying a wife is more than the lucky day of marrying a daughter,the prediction of Qin people’s marriage is more misfortune than happiness;In addition,there was already a special pattern of marriage---a widow’s marriage,that is the widow uxorilocal,which can be illustrated by history books.The second chapter analyzes property status and family status of women.Qin Bamboo Slips reflects that women have a high degree of participation in activities including textile and embroidery,business,and sorcery(medicine)and so on,and women in this period are more free than those women who are constrained at home living in later generations due to the business activities,which is manifestation of female higher economic status.Although the qualifications of women to become the master of the family,are more complicated,the amount of "female master" was more,which is a sad truth.The female economic status plays a role in her family status,and the influence trend is positive.The third chapter focus on other problems of female marriage and family described by Qin Bamboo Slips,related to female pregnancy and childbirth,the concept of marriage and family of Qin people,and the marriage and family problems of female slaves.Same as marriage,the Qin people also chose good luck in the aspect of childbearing with plenty of taboos.The concept of marriage and family of the Qin people is composed of two parts.One is the concept that has been deeply rooted in the public,such as the preference for utility and hoping for stable family life.The other part is the concept advocated by the government who hopes the public to accept,which is limited acceptance among the public,such as mindset of chastity and hoping the wife is grave and gentle and so on.Due to the limited materials,official menservants and maidservants take slaves and servants as examples to explain,while private menservants and maidservants can only be discussed slightly.The newly unearthed historical materials supplement to the situation of female becoming the master of the family and family of private slaves in the Qin Dynasty.Although there are limited materials,the Two-year Laws and Decrees in Zhangjiashan Bamboo Slips of Han Dynasty,as the reference,somewhat supplements the research materials of female becoming the master of the family and the marriage and family of private slaves in the Qin Dynasty.Based on this,this passage hopes to make a better combing of the previous research results and make some supplements to the history of women in Qin Dynasty as well as Qin State in the middle and late warring states period.
