Study On Names And Evolutions Of Inherent Drums In China

The drums used in rites and music came mainly from Five Classics in ancient China.These books were finished by Han Dynasty at latest.However,in actually,the institutionof rites and music at that moment existed only in the ideal.Many instruments in the books were not true.So the names and functions of the drums changed inevitably during the practice by later generations.This dissertation contains introduction,two chapters and conclusion.Chapter 1 teases and systematically studies five kinds of drums with their names and changes.Chapter 2 summarizes the characteristics of drums in different times by the ancient literature based on Chapter 1.
