| Although conceptual metaphor is ubiquitous in our life,the cognitive linguistic translation research mainly focuses on the translation of literary texts.The translator intends to practice the theories of cognitive linguistics to guide the translation of conceptual metaphors in non-literary texts,The Dilemmas of Wonderland: Decisions in The Age of Innovation,by the translation practice.The translator translated the first and sixth chapters of the book,which had 10,014 words in total.The author selected certain conceptual metaphors from Chapter 6 and categorized them into thematic metaphors and novel metaphors.Then she analyzed the meaning of the metaphors through blending,and employed specific translation skills to translate them according to the context and by referring to translation principles proposed from the perspective of cognitive linguistics and metaphor translation strategies.The translator hopes that translators can produce better target texts with the assistance of cognitive linguistics while translating metaphors.On the other hand,translators should bear in mind that being humble and modest is a must to improve the translation quality as the cognition of the translators themselves will affect it. |
