Metaphor is one of the important aspects of human cognition, which is fully emerged in human thoughts.Generally speaking, human cognitive activities should follow several rules: from near to far, from familiar to unfamiliar, from concrete to abstract, etc. Many Chinese and foreign scholars have reached a general agreement concerning the basis of human cognition. They believe that all cognitive activities are based on human beings themselves, thus measuring the world through its own feelings. Therefore, the perception fed back by the human body’s senses naturally becomes the best way for us to observe, recognize and experience the world. The introduction part of this paper mainly expounds the research in the following aspects: the reason, the significance, literary review, the research methods, the theoretical basis of research and the sources of corpus. The first chapter mainly discusses basic semantic meaning of the Chinese word “口” and the Thai word “(?)”,which clarifies the description of both two languages and exemplifies the semantic context of the word “mouth”.The second chapter is written on the basis of the first chapter in line with the rigorous scientific attitude.Emphatically, from the perspective of conceptual metaphor theory,it talks about the “口” in Chinese and Thai “(?)” in the word formation metaphor mapping methods,so as to conduct a preliminary comparative analysis of metaphorical mapping theory, and summarizes the analysis of the content. The third chapter, based on the second chapter, went through the surface level to explain the causes of the language point above and then further analyzes the similarities and differences between the two languages. The study found that the common feature of metaphorical mapping of the “mouth” word family in Chinese and Thai mainly lies in non-native meaning to the location channel domain, specific object domain and speech expression domain. The existence of this commonness also happens to positively reflect the similarity and unity of human cognitive models.Human use their own sensory experience to recognize things around them.During the cognitive process, metaphorical thoughts are ubiquitous and play a decisive role in our ideological activities. In addition, there are differences in the metaphorical mapping between the Chinese word family of “口” and the Thai word family of “(?)”.For example, the Chinese word family of “口” can map the human domain and refer to people;the Thai word family of “(?)” can refer to making a living, which is mostly caused by cultural differences, different living habits, and different thinking modes, thus forming different metaphor mapping patterns.
