Veiling is an important custom in ancient Greek society.It is filled with women' s daily life,happens on certain male occasions,and plays an important role and has a symbolic significance in the wedding or funeral.The veiling culture is shaped by all sorts of ideologies in the ancient Greek society.We can understand of the ancient Greece social concepts and their influence on the veiling culture with its study,such as aidos,pollution and spatial segregation.The research will focus on the veiling custom with the veil as ornaments and its cultural connotation.The article will study the use of veil in the ancient Greek society,including of men and women in different stages and status wear or use the veil in daily life and what role the veil play in the wedding or funeral,and analyse veiling's function and symbolic meaning in society.Then we will further explore the relationship between the veiling and Greek ideologies,and analyze the mutual influence between the social customs and social ideologies and their common building to the society in ancient Greece.In the ancient Greek society,it is frequent for women to veil,and the situation of veiling is slightly different by different identity for the young girl,married women and the widow.It is particularity for adult men to veil,and they veil when their dignity threatened or weaken.The pollution of woman's voice and sexuality is one of the reasons women veil.Aidos is the common cause men and women veil.For male and female in ancient Greece,the function and meaning of the veil are both diverse and unified.In the wedding,the bride is the executant of veiling,"double" anakalypteria are an important symbol of female identity change.In the funeral,the living and the dead both veil.The "double veiling" of the dead and the living is the isolation of death pollution.The function and meaning of the veiling both in everyday life and in the wedding or funeral are achieved and given through spatial segregation.The concept of spatial segregation is the essence of veiling culture in ancient Greece.
