On The Bildung Of Lessing's Hamburg Dramaturgy

The German Enlightenment movement was carried out in the eighteenth century when the bourgeoisie and the feudal aristocracy were in opposition,and the literary and artistic works of that time with distinct national characteristics became the real refracted images of this special period.The moral and rational concepts established in the works unknowingly completed the enlightening Bildung for the masses and realized the Bildung function of the establishment of the German nation state.Lessing,as a pioneer of the Enlightenment movement in Germany and even the whole Europe,was a theater practitioner and theorist of the civil class.Hamburg Dramaturgy is one of lessing's representative works.This paper will discuss in detail the indoctrination in Lessing's Hamburg Dramaturgy from different perspectives.Bildung is a dynamic process.This paper starts with the special concept of "Bildung",examines why Lessing became a enlightenment " reformist " different from Mendelssohn,the " guardian " of enlightenment,and challenges the " authority of rationalism" from the aspect of dramatic art,and then discusses lessing's rebellion against traditional Bildung.The object of his challenge and rebellion is similar in a narrow sense,it's Lessing's critique of French teachers,the contents of these criticisms are also the concrete manifestation of the Bildung view in his drama criticism.In Lessing's case,the principle of true,natural drama came first,thus,compared with the element of dramatic plot,character became the most important thing to him,which gave birth to the "Divine Personality Theory".As a complement to the school of morality and the law,the Bildung(educational)function of drama is precisely achieved through the demonstration of character.At the same time,under the influence of the emerging bourgeois ideology,the Bildung(enlightenment)of drama can be better achieved by treating the general public rather than the princes and nobles as dramatic figures.This is consistent with the inherent requirements of the Enlightenment,because to establish the German nation's own theater is,in some sense,to cultivate the German nation's own aesthetic.The Bildung of drama is in some sense the Catarsis effect of tragedy,or the Bildung is related to purification.Bildung,then,must also be based on compassion and pity,and lessing's correspondence with Mendelssohn begins with the question of tears of compassion.Lessing,being a reformer,was not a complete rebel.As aesthetic last a thinker of the rationalism tradition,his drama Bildung view with Aristotle's "poetry" as the criterion,retrial drama aesthetic effect of pity and fear,will purify as the purpose of the heart,in plays evoke "independence" of the individual,stimulating and irrational insights,the emotion is converted into a moral content.
