A Chinese-English Translation Report On Lenovo ThinkAgile HX Series HCI Project Proposal

Along with the rapid development of science and technology and the continued deepening of technological globalization,the technical exchange and co-operation among the countries have become increasingly close.As a carrier for spreading scientific and technological information,scientific texts are self-evidently important.Meanwhile,such texts are also worthy of being translated to other languages,through which the exchanges of science and technologies among different countries can be promoted.This translation report selects a Hyper-Converged Infrastructure project proposal of Lenovo as the translation material,which belongs to the technical text under the general scientific and technological style according to the text type theory.With the flexible use of translation theories and skills,the author hopes to present a qualified translation on the basis of understanding the content and the language characteristics of the original text,and try to explore some specific strategies for translating such technical texts if possible.The source language text is a professional project proposal produced by the engineers of an IT company,whose language is quite concise and coherent.Therefore,to achieve the ideal effect of precisely conveying the meaning of the original text,the author needs to consider the use of words and sentences carefully and revise the translated text repeatedly in the process of translation,so that the language can be made as accurate,objective and smooth as possible.For the technical terms and abbreviations in the original material,the author has established a detailed term list and searched for the related parallel texts before translating,which are very helpful to the translation process.After that,the author also summarizes some experience from the perspective of vocabulary and syntax through the analysis of translation examples,such as using omission and conversion to translate category words in Chinese,using passive structure in translation according to the language characteristics of scientific English,and paying attention to the use of noun structures when translating Chinese sentences into English.In a word,to make the translation more faithful and accurate,translators need to adopt different translation strategies and methods to deal with various translation difficulties during the translation process.Through this translation practice and the writing of the translation report,the author hopes to cultivate his own ability of translating Chinese technical texts into English.And if possible,the summary and reflection after the translation practice can also provide some reference for other translators who will translate such texts later.
