A Brief Analysis Of Improved Translation Of Vocabulary With Chinese Characteristics In The Report On The Work Of Chinese Government

Guided by the Skopos Theory,this article aims to study the improved translation of some vocabulary with Chinese characteristics in Report on the Work of Chinese Government in recent years.Through the comparison of old and the improved translation,it also provides inspirations for the translation of other political texts.At the very beginning,this article gives a brief introduction about Report on the Work of Chinese Government and its translated version.Next,it goes on to explain the development of Skopos Theory and states its three rules,i.e.,the Skopos Rule,the Coherence Rule and the Fidelity Rule.Among them,the Skopos Rule counts most.Then,according to these three rules,the article makes a detailed analysis based on concrete examples and makes a careful comparison between the old and the improved translation in Report on the Work of Chinese Government and also tries to find out the proper translation strategy that has been employed.Due to the difference in language itself and cultural background,and the fact that political texts are highly sensitive and have high requirements for the accuracy in translation,it has never been a simple task to translate Report on the Work of Chinese Government.This article figures out that the Skopos Theory can help the translation of Report on the Work of Chinese Government and make the translation more flexible and keep abreast of the times.Moreover,it also helps better spread China’s major and basic national policies.
