The Folk Aesthetic Research Of Yangko In Northern Shaanxi

As one of the four Yangkos in China,northern Shaanxi Yangko has a long history.From its primitive form as an exorcism rite in Shang and Zhou Dynasties,it has gradually become matured after going through Tang-Song Dynasty,Ming-Qing Dynasty,and Republican period.The “New Yangko Campaign” rising in Yan'an injected a new revolutionary culture to northern Shaanxi Yangko.Currently a newly-developing folk Yangko appears.Northern Shaanxi Yangko is mainly distributed in Yulin City and Yan'an City in space.Yangko activities are relatively concentrated and rich in content.Through field investigation and the research and analysis of historical documents,the author found that the evolution of Yangko of northern Shaanxi and the formation of its modern features are closely related to the regions and folk customs.Its high-pitched and bright melodies and rhythms,showy and ingenious dance movement,and protean array formation all show its close relationship with folk aesthetic style;the colorful clothing,profound stage props,and handsome characters are also an important embodiment of folk aesthetic tastes;Yangko activities such as the temple praying Yangko,decorated gateway Yangko,and Lantern Festival Yangko,which are held in the first month of the lunar year,have a close association with local folk customs in performance time and organization procedures.Northern Shaanxi Yangko is a beautiful window to see the regional culture and observe the important characteristics of the traditional culture of northern nationalities.In this paper,the author analyzed the aesthetic phenomenon of northern Shaanxi Yangko and summarized the folk aesthetics' characteristics of northern Shaanxi Yangko;based on this,the cause of formation of the folk aesthetics' characteristics of northern Shaanxi Yangko was explored and studied so as to boost the heritage and further development of northern Shaanxi Yangko.
