Perceived stress,as a variable measuring individual’s degree of subjective stress perception, has been shown to have negative impact on individual’s well-being to some extent by existing studies. With the rise of positive psychology, people pay more attention to well-being.How to find variables that can play a buffering role in the process of negative impact of stress on well-being is a problem worth exploring.Meaning in life represents individual’s perception and pursuit of the meaning of life and future goals. There are few studies on its positive functioning in China, and little attention has been paid to the mechanism of its effect between perceived stress and well-being.Therefore,on the basis of summing up the existing research on perceived stress, meaning in life and well-being,this study explores the relationship among the above three variables through questionnaire survey.397 undergraduates were tested with Perceived Stress Scale,Meaning in Life Questionnaire,Satisfaction with Life Scale and Positive and Negative Affect Scale at the same time to investigate the relationship between perceived stress, meaning in life and well-being.Through hierarchical regression analyses, the results shows that the moderating effect of presence of meaning on perceived stress and satisfaction with life is marginal significant(t = 1.964,P = 0.050),while the moderating effect of search for meaning is all significant between perceived stress and satisfaction with life(t = 3.286,P = 0.001),positive affect(t = 2.318,P = 0.021)and negative affect(t = 2.700,P = 0.007).In summary, perceived stress has a negative impact on well-being,but the meaning in life can play a moderating role between them. |
