Abstract/Summary:
PIPA,one of the most expressive and representative instruments among Chinese ethnic instruments,with a history of nearly two thousand years.In the historical development,whether in the ancient Chinese court music or folk music has its figure.Among the many classics literature of ancient Chinese music,we can feel the prosperity of the golden age of PIPA,and on the other hand,it is not difficult to find that there is an inseparable connection between PIPA and ancient Chinese religious culture,such as the image of "flying devis of hand-held PIPA" in the Dunhuang mural,and the image of hand-held PIPA “Dhritarashtra”of Caturmaharajakayikas in Buddhism,etc.,all reflect the genes of the religious elements in the PIPA music.At present,the contemporary PIPA art is famous in the world music circle for its unique artistic style.The systematic combing and research by researchers on a large number of accumulating and outstanding works are becoming more and more complete and clear.However,the author has searched carefully and found that the works of religious themes in the contemporary PIPA music are not very abundant.Therefore,the author hopes to use this article to comb and analyze the solo works of PIPA with religious theme which are focused on Buddhism and take Taoism as individual cases from ancient times to the present,so as to make up for some gaps in this area of research.
