Multi-percussion is a form of percussion,it means that a player plays a group of percussion instruments as one instrument.At first,it only appeared in chamber music,and then gradually developed the solo style and became the teaching content of the subject.It appears in Chinese percussion,western percussion,popular percussion and world percussion.This paper mainly analyzes Multi-percussion in western percussion.This paper will study the performance of multi-percussion.There are few researches on the performance of multi-percussion in the existing literature.Therefore,this paper will take Shanghai Conservatory of music as an example to analyze the performance of multi-percussion from four parts.The first part of this paper will analyze the concept of multi-percussion.This paper thinks that the study of the performance of multi-percussion needs to analyze from these aspects,which are the source and definition of multi-percussion,the review of its development history.The author also understands that multi-percussion is beneficial to the performance of multi-percussion.The second part of this paper will select the three pieces of Shanghai Conservatory of Music commonly used to analyze,which are respectively She who sleeps with a small blanket composed by Kevin Volans,Thirteen drums composed by Maki Ishii and Rebonds composed by Iannis Xenakis.The author of this paper believes that the key to the study of performance is to understand the author,background and techniques of musical composition.The third part of this paper will analyze the performance of three pieces of Multi-percussion works,which includes the choice of timbre,practice methods,comparison and integration of performance version,and problems in actual performance.The fourth part of this paper will summarize the difficulties of the combination percussion performance.The author of this paper thinks that the difficulties of playing Multi-percussion can be generally divided into two aspects.On the one hand,it refers to the theoretical aspects,such as the lack of relevant knowledge,the content of social communication,and the concept conflict between players and listeners.On the other hand,it refers to the practical aspects,such as the selection of mallets and the placement of instruments,playing skills,playing styles and schools,stage experience and psychological quality,stage attraction,etc.Players need to pay attention to the difficulties in the performance process.In addition,this paper believes that the study of the performance of multi-percussion also needs to be related to development status of Multipercussion.
