Taipusi was one of the main silver repositories in the middle and late Ming Dynasty.This article takes the Taipusi of the Ming Dynasty as the research object,from the perspective of national finance,explores the types and scales of Changying Storehouse receipts and disbursements,and the financial practices of Taipusi,understands that Taipusi played a huge role in the national fiscal system,and then reflects a change that Taipusi as horse administration organization had fiscal function.The receipt of Changying Storehouse mainly came from material resources of Taipusi paid in silver.Its silvers are roughly divided into two categories: one is horse silver,the other is other material resources paid in silver except horse.The Biao Horse paid in silver and the sell of studhorse are the main part of the horse silver.In addition to the development of horse administration,the need of the national situation was the main reason for the continuous expansion of Changying Storehouse's receipt types.Furthermore,the Zhuangpengyin of capital battalion and a small number of receipts of the Ministry of War were also in Changying Storehouse.The disbursement of Changying Storehouse changes from singleness to multiplicity.In the fourth year of Chenghua,Changying Storehouse set up as Taipusi's silver storage,and its silvers were specially used to buy horses for capital and north border battalion.Roughly in the Zhengde period,Changying Storehouse began to take charge some of the expenditure of the national finance,and gradually silvers was used for military expenditure in north border,emperor's appropriation and regional disasters.In the two dynasties of Jiajing and Wanli,the disbursement quantity and scale of Changying Storehouse increased rapidly,and some temporary military expenditures became the institutional expenditure.During the operation of Changying Storehouse,as its silver changed from simply buying horses to being a part of the national fiscal system,Taipusi's function changed.The fiscal function of Taipusi was an important reason for the maintenance of national finance in the late Ming Dynasty,but it also made Taipusi into the difficult situation of no silver and no horse.
