Abstract/Summary:
The development of contemporary science and technology is constantly breaking through the existing cognition bounds of human. It not only constructs the production methods and processes of contemporary films at the technical level, but also exerts a profound influence on the perception expression of narration and construction logic of text of contemporary science fiction films at the level of science concepts and theoretical assumptions. In quantum mechanics, the Uncertainty Principle reveals the essence of things in microscopic world. It oversteps its limits and overturns the certainty principle of classical mechanics and its cognitive paradigm.Meanwhile,at the levels of future, time and space, posthuman as well as the existence possibility, the Uncertainty Principle also continues to reconstruct the cognition and perception of human. With breakthroughs of quantum mechanics made in various fields, the uncertainty of things becomes a universal consensus. At the same time, the uncertain impact of emerging technologies such as space exploration, gene modification and artificial intelligence on the whole human race continues to amplify the depression and confusion of human which have been existed since the Industrial Revolution and nuclear threat during the Cold War.Among them, the science fictions represented by Cthulhu Mythos and parallel universes,as a concentrated reflection of contemporary social psychology, reflect the collective identity crisis based on the fear of the unknown, even question the subjectivity of human.Based on this, the command of Uncertainty Principle over contemporary Hollywood science fiction films at perceptional level is evidenced by the relationships between human and technology, human and the world, human and ego,as well as human and the future at the level of perception expression and text construction logic of science fiction films. On the one hand, the films explore and trace the truth of the world,of which the narration focuses on its existence and multiple possibilities,on the other hand,by reflecting on collective identity crisis, the films focus on the ethical issues of the development of modern science and technology,in order to stimulate thinking on future development of science and technology and its eventualities. Thus, science fiction films demonstrate the uncertainty of world rules by constructing their narration on the basis of time illusion andimpossible spaces, and the sense-making model of text also diverges from the dual structure of subject and object based on certainty cognition, and turns to coexistence prospect expressed by intersubjectivity philosophy. The identity anxiety and conflicts brought by the posthuman era and the ethical issues brought by artificial intelligence are the extension of the entangled and co-existing relationship between human and technology, which reflect the posthumanist concept with de-anthropocentrization at its core. The assumption of Matrix-style simulation on human origin and situation fundamentally subverts the existing subject in previous philosophical discourse, and reflects the regulations of technology on human,as well as the uncertainty of human brought by science and technology revolution with regard to the cognition of ego and the world. Therefore,as the spiritual guidance of contemporary people, uncertainty becomes an indispensable characteristic of contemporary science fiction films.Meanwhile, the text construction logic centered on uncertainty constitutes the core mechanism of uncertainties in narration, which is related to the dynamic response of audience. From this perspective, the inner connection of film text and social context is constituted and the deep interaction and resonance between film makers and audience are created.
