A Narrative Research On The Documentary The Silk Road

In 2016,the British broadcasting corporation(hereinafter referred to as the "BBC")broadcast the "silk road" documentary series silk road,which takes important historical figures and events along the silk road in ancient and modern times as the shooting objects.According to different geographical regions,the series can be divided into three episodes,namely "China segment","central Asia segment" and "Middle East segment".The documentary grand theme,well-made,no matter from the filming and editing of content or on the selection and composition of a picture frame,all reflect the unique characteristics,the BBC documentary is a film taken by European countries to westerner’s vision and perspective to interpret the silk road history and the present "silk road" theme of the documentary.This documentary no longer shows the charming image of the silk road from the perspective of "the parties",but from the perspective of "outsiders" to record and seek the traces of the mutual exchanges and influences of various countries and regions on the silk road in different fields.Therefore,among the numerous "silk road" themed documentaries,"silk road" has become the object of the author’s research on the "silk road" themed documentaries due to its excellent quality and unique theme.In order to explore the narrative features of the documentary silk road and summarize its advantages and disadvantages in documentary narration,this paper uses text analysis and case analysis to explore its features in narrative content and narrative expression,as well as its conclusions and reflections.Through the research,the author finds that the silk road,as a masterpiece of the BBC "silk road" themed documentary,has great documentary value and strong social influence,but at the same time,it also has some problems such as lack of innovation in narrative content,too single narrative theme and strong subjectivity of narrative subject.The main body of this paper is divided into four chapters to narrate the silk road.First of all,in the first chapter,the author defines the concept of "silk road themed documentary" involved in this paper and makes a general introduction to the research object of this paper,"silk road".The secondchapter analyzes the narrative context and main body of the silk road.The third chapter is the narrative expression analysis of the silk road,mainly through the analysis of the narrative structure,narrative language and other elements,to further summarize and condense the narrative expression characteristics of the film.The fourth chapter summarizes the conclusion and the "silk road" of narrative literature value and social impact,and shot through with the BBC documentary film the story of the same type of contrast,further broaden the research perspective of this article,from a more macro and scientific perspective for later related documentary film development put forward some enlightenment of narrative research and reflection.
