The first Jamyang Zhepa,Ngawang Ts?ndrü(1648–1721),is an important figure in the history of Tibetan Buddhism,the owner of Labrang Monastery.He founded Labrang Monastery,one of the six major temples of the Gelug.The establishment of the temple enabled the development and spread of Tibetan Buddhism in the Amdo.In this article,I will collate the literature related to Jamyang Ngawang Ts?ndrü,and use the research results of the predecessors,combined with his own thoughts,to explore his historical contribution,in order to make a fair judgment.The thesis is divided into four chapters,the contents of each chapter are as follows: Chapter 1,Labrang Monastery and "Jamyang Zhepa".This chapter mainly sorts out and clarifies the life trajectory of Jamyang Ngawang Ts?ndrü through the literature.The second chapter is the formation of Jamyang Ngawang Ts?ndrü's historical status.The paper mainly discusses the status from four aspects,including Jamyang's origins,Jamyang's education experience,serving as Mgo Mang Mkhan Bo and Lazhang Khan's "teacher".The third chapter is the historical contribution of Jamyang Ngawang Ts?ndrü.It mainly includes the establishment of Labrang Monastery;promotion of Gelugpa teaching methods in Mongolia and Tibet.Jamyang Ngawang Ts?ndrü has profound knowledge in Buddhism and has created many Buddhist classics.A large number of outstanding works have been left,and their contribution and influence in the history of Tibetan culture can be seen from the "Guo Mang Textbook(?)",which is well-known among the Gelugpa temples.The fourth chapter is Jamyang Ngawang Ts?ndrü and Amdo Tibetan Buddhism.This paper explores the relationship between the ruler of Henan and Labrang Monastery,and the status and influence of Labrang Monastery in Amdo by sorting out the Mongolia ruler lineage of Henan.
