A Study On Xia Xiu 's Ngawang And His Literary Works

Sheshu Awang Denzen is one of the well respected masters in Labrang Monastery, helearnt the Buddhist doctrines with the fourth Genqian Jamyang Gyalba, Gye Sherab Gyaltso,Shangdong Danba Gyaltsom, Khanchen Awang Tuden Gyaltso, Gomang Lobsang TsultrimGyaltso and Gudu Lobsang Chenle, and he was appointed to be the teacher in GomangMonastery by the fourth Gengqian Jamyang Gyalba later. He spent his whole life with teachingin many different monasteries along the south side of the yellow river in Amdo area. However,he was scarcely mentioned in few documents, until now the interpretation for the story ofRamani is the only work that we can see these days which he finished in1893. Thus, this paperstated his charming life and works.This paper was conducted by three chapters, introduction and references, in introductionit provided a brief biography of him, the purpose of this paper, current research situation, and themethods that being used in this paper. In the first chapter, it compared five biographies of thismaster. In the second chapter, it researched on his life works, especially on the literature works.In the third chapter, it compared his work, the interpretation of the story of Ramani (Dri me SheGyi Cho Den) with Lobsar Wangmo Rholtso that was written by Dundrub Gyal, and ChewangDrabi Gangjyan that has been written by Khabum. In the first reference, it listed the names of hisworks. In the second reference, it listed some others that are related to him. In the third reference,it provided the secret biography of him that has been written by his student Nyantog Gyalba.
