From Resemblance To Enumeration | | Posted on:2021-05-25 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:W Wei | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2415330626455121 | Subject:Linguistics and Applied Linguistics | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | The enumerative marks with comparative words(EMCW)are originated from the comparative words like "ru" and "xiang",which clarifiy the logical relationships and reveal the "implicatures".This dissertation shall be divided into five parts and take various EMCW from modern Chinese as the research objects.The first part is the introduction,which includes the current research results and the boundaries of both discourse markers and enumeration while briefly explains the foundation of theories and methods in the research in order to state the source of the corpus.The second part is a combination of the second and third chapter.This part puts the emphasis on the synchronous studies on EMCW by making the first chapter introduce the members and layout of marks according to the differences on syllables and components of the discourse’s nature and variation,and analyze the patterns and relations of EMCW based on the sentence category and specific locations when the second chapter investigate the functions of EMCW relating to verbal behavior,textual cohesion and the communicative perspectives of both sides based on Halliday’s functional grammar.The third part is the fourth chapter,which mainly about the diachronic analysis of the origin of EMCW.This part describes the grammatical features of comparative words during different periods and summarizes the process of grammaticalization by generalizing relevant senses.The fourth part is the fifth chapter.It explores the motivation and mechanism of EMCW by connecting cognitive linguistics and interactive linguistics.The fifth part is the conclusion,which mainly summarizes the core points,the unresolved problems and the future research directions. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | comparative words, enumerative marks with comparative words, discourse function, grammaticalization | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
