The Influence Mechanism Of Birth Order On The Students' Mental Health Of Middle School Under The Background Of "Two-child" Family

Since January 1st,2016,Chinese "Two-Child" policy has been fully opened allowing a couple to have two children,and some "three-member" families will be transformed into "four-member" families.Researchers have begun to focus on whether having a second child has an impact on firstborn girls and whether parents treat two children equally in family education.At the same time,middle school students' mental health level has been the hot topic of social concern.Therefore,the study on the relationship between birth order and mental health of middle school students in "two-child" families can provide some guidance for "two-child" families and families with the intention of having "two-child" families as well as promote mental health of middle school students,which has a practical significance.The purpose of this study was to explore the chain mediating effect of parental warmth and emotional regulation on birth order and mental health problems of middle school students in "two-child" families,as well as the moderating effect of gender.Subjects: junior high school students aged 13 to 15 who were born and raised in a "two-child" family with parents involved in the upbringing.Methods: 1166 students in grade one and grade two were investigated by social network questionnaire,self-regulation scale and mental health scale.Results:(1)birth order negatively predicts mental health problems of middle school students;(2)parental warmth plays a part in mediating between birth order and mental health problems of middle school students;(3)emotional regulation plays a part in mediating between birth order and mental health problems of middle school students;(4)parental warmth and emotional regulation play a chain mediating role in the relationship between birth order and mental health problems of middle school students;Gender modulates the path of birth order affecting parents' warmth;(5)The degree and difference of parental warmth are influenced by subjective factors of parents and objective factors of family.Both parental warmth and birth order have an impact on sibling relationship.Conclusion: In the "Two-Child" family,parents should equally give their children emotional warmth,especially cannot ignore the "eldest";If the "eldest" is a girl,it needs the warmth of parents very much.
