This thesis is based on Chapter 7 of Media Geography written by Professor Shao Peiren and Doctor Yang Liping. It adopts the theories of Eco-translatology,mainly the views of three-dimension transformation: adaptive selection in language, communicative and cultural dimension as the theoretical base in the course of translation. In terms of language dimension, the thesis adopted the methods such as the conversion of word sense, the conversion of abstract words and the conversion of concrete words. As for sentence ecology, the method of sentence structure transformation was adopted considering the differences between Chinese and English sentence structures. The main methods included splitting sentence, transforming subjects or other components, and adjusting sentence order. In terms of communicative dimension, analysis was made on logical transformation.Since parataxis with few logical words is favored in Chinese while English is characterized by hypotaxis with many connective words, the author adopted the methods such as addition, supplement. In addition, for metaphors, appropriate conversion was also conducted because literal translation often cannot be understood by the target readers.Similarly, emphasis was also put on discourse cohesion, and the main methods included omission, the supplement of sentence components, and the explicitness of logic. With regard to cultural dimension, differences between Chinese and Western cultures are visible, which were mainly reflected in the following aspects: First, the differences between Chinese and Western cultural contents and backgrounds;second, the differences in special cultural expressions, such as the use of Chinese characters and symmetry, which reflects the pursuit of a sense of rhythm.During the process of translating the four-character words into English, the methods of interpretation and annotation were adopted. The translation practice of Media Geography is of great significance. It will not only convey Chinese people?s understanding and perception of media geography to foreign scholars, but also introduce new ideas and unique perspectives of the Chinese scholars in the field of media geography to international scholars.Apart from these,it will provide some useful suggestions to the translators who translate academic texts.
