Grammatical metaphor is a significant concept in functional linguistics, which was created by Halliday. It serves as a tool for people to explore the world through a new perspective.Halliday believes any sentence containing meanings have at least two different ways of expression—congruent way and metaphorical way.The author of this paper establishes the theoretical framework and aims to analyze the application of adjectivization in translation practice from the perspective of grammatical metaphor. This thesis selects Chapter 7 and Chapter 8 from the book Blogs and Tweets,Texting and Friending—Social media and Online Professionalism in Health Care published in 2013,written by Sandra De Jong, with the English texts and their Chinese translation presented. The paper summarizes three different types of adjectivization in medical texts through example analysisprocess to quality, circumstances to quality, entity to expansion.Translation strategies towards adjectivization have been discussed in the paper through the author’s translation practice. This thesis aims to provide suggestions for future translators of medical text and improve the quality of medical text translation.
