The “Gulag's Series” works include the novel “Gulag Archipelago”,“Kolyma Story”,“Gulag Love: A True Story of Love and Survival”,and the film “The Way Back”.This paper attempts to start from a multi-dimensional perspective and study the characters in them as aesthetic objects.First of all,by comparing the characters,the character image type of the “Gulag's Series” works is analyzed.The type is divided into 7 categories: the image of an officer represented by Janusz,the overseas workers represented by Mr.Smith,the businessman represented by Zoran,the criminal represented by Valk.The fugitives of collective farms and orphanages,represented by Irena.The artists represented by Tomasz,and the clergy represented by Voss.I also believe that there is an artistic treatment in the film that has the logic of life.This kind of art processing has reached the distance between reality and illusion,leaving the spirit of perseverance in people's minds;in form,it makes the plot unpredictable through the combination of reality and illusion;in aesthetics,it achieves the balance of suffering and blessing,and produces an artistic effect of sorrow and joy.Secondly,the aesthetic characteristics of the “Gulag's Series image” are interpreted.This aesthetic characteristic is expressed as: the image choice of the “whisperer”;the situational focus of the sad plot;and the memory of suffering.The work uses the characteristics of the “whisperer”in the selection of characters,that is,it is divided into whistle-blowers and suspects,so that the fate of the prisoners or arrested or fleeing is also quietly judged in secret and whispering;In this context,the horrible atmosphere in the Gulag archipelago includes not only the indoor labor camps who are forced to confess by torture,the inability to endure persecution,and the conspirators who supervise the work of the prisoners in their own interests in the cost of a large-scale death of prisoners in laborcamps.In addition,it summarizes people's reflections on the memory of the hardships of the year.Some people choose to accept optimism and no regrets.Some people are more self-blaming because they are the initiators of suffering.There are more people who are trapped and unable to withdraw.The analysis of suffering is to cherish the peace of life and to linger on the future of a better life.Finally,it explains the follow-up creation under the influence of the characters of the Gulag's Series.This kind of follow-up creation formed a sequence of images,including the Harbin people in the labor camp,the Russian overseas Chinese in the labor camp,the image of the Russians,and the “generalized Gulag image” related to the labor camp.These images complement the image of the Gulag's Series and serves to be an extension of the characters in the film.They can not only make up for the historical fragments,but also reshape the spiritual history of human nature.
