Books,as the carrier of information transmission,make people move from obscurity to civilization.With the continuous advancement of science and technology and the rapid development of economy,e-books are gradually favoured by the public.Traditional paper books are facing the challenge of digital publications,but when the material demand is satisfied,people will put forward higher demands for spiritual communication.The design of paper books can carry out the intangible content of books to the physical level and interact with people spiritually,which is the core of paper books.But this is unattainable for e-books.This dissertation believes that the judgment of the value of a book not only stays on the content,but also experience the senses from material to aesthetic to spiritual,fix the content down to matter through the expression,thus rising to aesthetics.Let it create a selling point or enjoy the body and soul,so that readers can communicate with them mentally,then they have personalized characteristics.The interaction of readers' senses and emotional communication is the embodiment of the value of books.This method is based on the way of personalization.Therefore,this dissertation considers and studies the sensory experience from the perspective of the six thoughts of Buddhism,in order to make paper books exist in the market for a long time and enhance the overall image of books.This dissertation takes the personalization of book design as the main object,aiming at the idea of the six roots of Buddhism as the starting point,and through the methods of classification and induction,literature review and case analysis,a new perspective of the personalization of book design has been found and the theoretical system of book design based on six roots has been established.The dissertation connects audience and designer through the three dimensions of material foundation,aesthetic perception,spiritual culture and the six dimensions of "eye","ear","nose","tongue","body" and "ideal",in an attempt to provide reference and research directions for future book designThis dissertation first studies the book design and the six roots,hackles the materialized attributes of book binding and analyses the process of book design from materialized attributes to personalization,and then summarizes the six thoughts of Buddhism according to the Buddhist classic Shurangama Sutra.The theoretical basis of this dissertation is established according to the conclusion of the "six roots" as the medium in the six Buddhism,the "six dusts" as the physical material and the "six-sense" as the subjective perception of human beings,and the analysis of the thoughts of interaction between body senses and the six roots of Buddhism.On the basis of theoretical research,the theoretical system of book design based on six roots is established.The perspective of the Buddhist thoughts of "six roots","six dusts" and "six literacy" are corresponded with the physiological feelings,physical aspects and psychological awareness generated by the audience when they got in touch with books.Combined with case analysis,the dissertation summarizes that the "six roots","six dusts","six knowledge" are the six sensory dimensions of the relationship between designers and audiences;based on theoretical establishment,through the material foundation,aesthetic perception and spiritual culture and life,this dissertation analyses the embodiment of personality in book design,through six dimensions.Finally,it summarizes the influence of the six roots system on the audience's feelings,scenery and environment through the previous theoretical foundation,the theoretical system construction and the theoretical research.The value of the materialized attributes,aesthetics and art,and spiritual personality in the book design will be summed up.It also proposes the enlightenment for the designer to turn back to books,humanity and design.With the research of this subject,this dissertation may put forward new constructive ideas and perspectives on the research of personalization of book design,fully demonstrate the charm brought by paper books as a materialized carrier,and meet the emotional and spiritual needs of modern people.Let book design enhance the value of the book itself,improve the quality of the overall paper book,and bring more new hopes for the future of paper books.
