As is known to all,bioscience is a significantly important field to us.First of all,if we want to protect the decreasing habitats of animals,we need to know their migration routes and even their destinations.In addition,to imitate the unique navigation mechanisms formed during the migrations of animals and to invent related bionic products are of unusual significance to science.This is an English-Chinese translation report.The source text is Super Navigators: Exploring the Wonders of How Animals Find Their Way,written by an English writer David Barrie.The book tells about navigation behaviors of various creatures,such as butterflies,birds,crustaceans,fish,reptiles,etc.,with focus on some relevant experiments conducted by experts.The translation report mainly deals with the translation of three chapters-Chapter 7 to Chapter 9-as the study scope of this report.This report consists of five chapters.In addition to the introduction to the background,objectives of this translation task and the structure of this report,the thesis focuses on difficulties confronted in translation process,and the corresponding translation methods and solutions.At lexical level,free translation,semantic extension,conversion of parts of speech,transliteration are the appropriate methods to render a smooth,fluent translation version.What is more,the translator chooses to adopt the following methods,that is,division,linear translation and restructuring the sentence structure in syntactic level.As for the discourse level,adding conjunctive words and substitution translation are used to improve target text to a great content.In the end,gains and limitations of this translation practice and related suggestions are summarized.Through this translation task,the translator aims to improve translationcompetence and to expand knowledge in the field of bioscience,which will play a positive role in promoting the following translation work.Besides,by completing these chapters,the translator hopes to provide references for peer translators.
