| The National Southwest Associated University was established by Peking University,Tsinghua University,and Nankai University during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.The Twenty-Five Lectures of the National Southwest Associated University is about the eight-year history of the NSAU in Kunming in the form of stories.During the eight years in Kunming,NSAU has cultivated many talents for China and the world.Meanwhile,the spirit of patriotism and learning of the university has been the guidance for contemporary universities and was sought by young people today.Therefore,it is duty-bound for the translator to spread the excellent culture so that it can be known by more people around the world.This report is based on the Chinese-English translation practice of the Twenty-Five Lectures of the National Southwest Associated University.Two chapters were translated from Chinese to English.Guided by the Linguistic Adaptation Theory,the translator solved some problems in the translation practice.This translation report consists of five parts.The first part includes the text analysis,purpose of translation task and the organization of the translation report.The second part details the three processes of translation practice.The third part is an introduction to translation theory and selected cases.The forth part is the case study by using linguistic structural adaptation and contextual adaptation of Verschueren’s Linguistic Adaptation Theory.The last part summarizes the experience and shortcomings of this practice.The source text,translated text,terminology and acknowledgments are attached as appendixes at the end of the report. |
