Modernity And Heidegger's Criticism

"Modernity",as a major theme of the western ideological and cultural circles in the 20 th century,has been widely concerned.And modernity is the process of showing rationality and establishing human subject status,the Renaissance and the enlightenment brought about human liberation,people are getting rid of religion,people are no longer willing to exist as servants of God,but require people to be liberated from God and become independent individuals,and modernity is also deeply branded with the brand of individual.However,with the outbreak of the two world wars,people's belief in the rational concept of Western society and the social progress brought about by modernity has been shaken,with the progress of science and technology,people rely more and more on science and technology,and with the continuous development of science and technology,people's knowledge also skyrocketed,but it also caused the division between people and the world,the deterioration of the relationship between people and nature,and the alienation of people themselves,these problems caused by the belief of modernity are what we call modernity.The problem of modernity is mainly manifested in two aspects:subjectivity and instrumental rationality.Thus,the criticism of modernity is also born,each schools of thought criticism of modernity is different,but it is always difficult to get rid of the binary opposition of subject and object and the domination of anthropology,Heidegger's criticism of modernity,which is to be studied in this paper,transcends the dilemma of traditional criticism of modernity,which is hard to get rid of Subjective Metaphysics,and criticizes and saves modernity from a new angle of pure "being".So the main focus of this paper is Heidegger's criticism of modernity,he criticized modernity from two aspects,First,he criticized the root technology of modernity.Although technology has brought about the improvement of social productivity and the convenience of people's life,the same technology has also brought various crises of modernity,Heidegger thought that the essence of technology is "Ge-stell",which is a way of uncovering,It's not just a purpose or a means,it's a way of showing,technology "Ge-stell" has penetrated into all fields of being and dominated the whole modern world.The second is the essence of Modernity: Criticism of Subjective Metaphysics,he mainly explores the essence of modernity from the perspective of "existential history",he believes that the essence of modernity is that man liberates himself from the shackles of the middle ages and becomes himself,and when the word "subject" becomes the exclusive noun of man and man becomes the basic and only subject,man becomes the center of all beings,the essence of modernity,subjectivity and metaphysics have been established.People take all things in the world into their own hands.The subject dominates all things in the world.The world becomes an image,and things become an object,under the control of people.Man becomes the subject and the world becomes the image,which makes the subject metaphysics established.Of course,Heidegger is not blindly criticizing modernity,but also proposes to overcome and save modernity.In the ending and overcoming of Subjective Metaphysics,he stressed that we should wake up "being" and make "being" reappear;Heidegger emphasized that we should transcend technology to achieve the combination of poetry and thought,so that people can poetic dwelling.Heidegger's criticism of modernity has its originality.It is necessary for us to study his criticism of modernity and the way of salvation.
